What to Expect:

TBi’s Train The Trainer is an immersive course providing you with both the theoretical understanding and practical skills to facilitate AEL (Adventure-related Experiential Learning). This hands-on opportunity promotes competence in new facilitation techniques for Organisational Development purposes, to enhance behavioural development and institutionalise change. 


AEL Methodology:

Adventure is a state of mind. The AEL Methodology is a scientific, multi-disciplinary approach utilised to develop individuals, teams and organisations holistically. According to TBi's Founder and Director, Dr. Christ Heunis: "AEL is an interactive procecss through which the participant generates knowledge, skill and value from direct relevant adventure experiences and guided reflection." (Heunis: 1997).


Outcomes:

Post course completion, you (as facilitator) will be able to transfer learning into the work environment and personal life adequately through the application of the AEL methodology.


This intensive facilitator training equips you to plan, design, manage and implement AEL interventions by acquiring the following competencies:

  • Organise groups/teams effectively

  • Create a cooperative, physically and emotionally safe environment

  • Implement AEL principles

  • Design an AEL intervention (procedure and practice) to achieve pre-determined AEL objectives

  • Design and evaluation of AEL exercises and techniques

  • Interpret and manage individual and group dynamics in an AEL setting through the application of effective facilitation skills

  • Apply ethics of AEL

  • Apply prescribed safety procedures


An 'Introductory to AEL' certificat is obtained at the end of the five-day course.
